Welcome Parents & Staff

A Letter from the President:

Hello Forest Families and Staff,

My name is Laura Nemeth and I am honored to be leading this year’s PTA. This will be my family’s eleventh year at Forest. I have a son in 4th grade at Forest. I also have a daughter who is a 7th grader at Warner Middle School and a son who is a 10th grader at North Farmington High School - both are Forest alumni.

The PTA is the Parent Teacher Association. We are volunteers committed to enhancing the Forest children’s school experience by sponsoring academic enrichment, community service, and family programs, as well as information sharing. The PTA Executive Board leads the school PTA and represents the Forest families’ interests in interactions with Forest staff, the Farmington Public Schools administration and the Farmington and Michigan PTSA.

Our PTA mission is to promote collaboration and involvement within the Forest community. Our focus is the continued development of our children by supporting the Forest School Improvement Plan, improving communications, and increasing PTA membership and involvement to show our strength in numbers.

The Forest PTA funds many of the fun social events that you and your children can participate in throughout the year. This includes events such as Enchanted Forest, Carnival, Variety Show and Field Day. We also are active in providing many educational enrichment opportunities such as Math Pentathlon, Reflections, educational assemblies, and many other extra-curricular clubs. There are many ways you can support these events and the Forest PTA, including:

Join the PTA: The first step is to actually join the Forest PTA. Membership forms are available at the beginning of the school year. By joining the PTA, you are saying that these events and programs at Forest are valuable -- you are not required to attend meetings or volunteer. Also, joining the PTA is the only way to get a valuable copy of the Forest School Directory!

Volunteer: While it’s not a requirement, contributing your time is the key to our success. We appreciate everyone who participates in any way at Forest…it’s a great village! Many volunteer positions require a small time commitment but make a huge difference at our school. Choose an option that works for you. You can volunteer as an event lead, committee member or participant. Watch for Sign-up Genius links in the weekly listservs. This is a great way to get involved. Whether you help from home or in school, during school hours or in the evening…the Forest family appreciates you!

Support Fundraisers: Contribute what you can through purchases or direct donations. Assist with the Fall Fundraiser (our largest fundraiser of the year), visit the Book Fair, participate in Box Tops and programs like Amazon Smile and Grocery Cards that award money back to Forest through everyday purchases. Show your school spirit by purchasing Forest apparel. The Forest PTA’s goal is to spend approximately $65 per student per year!

Stay Informed: Updates on our PTA progress are easy to find. Subscribe to the Forest and Farmington Public Schools listservs. Check the PTA calendar and join us at the PTA General Meetings.

We look forward to seeing you throughout the year! I’d would love to get as many parents involved in PTA sponsored events as possible. Please feel free to reach out to me at lauranemeth@hotmail.com if you have any questions on how to get involved.

Forest ROCKS!
