The Flyfishing magazine, together with Gordon van der Spuy and the Durban Fly Tyers have set up a series of three flytying workshops, the first of which is per the attached.
The author of "Call Of The Stream", Peter Brigg, will be demonstrating how to tie a fly using soft hackles. All materials are included in the fee. Participants should bring their own tying vice and tools as well as black or brown tying thread. Some spare tying vices and tools will be available for those who may be interested in learning how to tie their own flies.
The idea is to assist tyers to become proficient in tying different methods and there will be some renowned tyers giving the demonstration. The emphasis will be on tying methods, rather than tying a specific fly, although a fly will result from the process. The events will also be advertised in the Flyfishing magazine, together with a competition for the best indigenous fly. The competition will be run separately from the workshops - see the magazine for details.
This is a country wide initiative and similar workshops will be held in the other provinces.
