Florence Woman's Club

GFWC

Welcome to the Florence Woman's Club Website!

We hope you will take a little time to learn about this dynamic group of Northern Kentucky women. We are a member of the General Federation of Women's Club, the GFWC.

The Club generally meets the third Tuesday of the month, beginning at 1:00 pm. A light lunch is served at 12:30.

Meeting locations will vary until we find a new "home". New monthly spot will be e-mailed directly from President Sharon Price.

Come early, enjoy a light lunch and to network!

The Florence Woman’s Club is an organization that was formed in 1954. We have dedicated over 65 years of community service, benefiting numerous charities serving Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.

We collaborate on a variety of community service projects and sponsor one major fundraiser per year plus service projects that promote education, conservation, arts, public issues, and international outreach in the community. The members have become friends over the years, so our meetings are really enjoyable. We feel blessed to have many dynamic members of all ages with a strong sense of friendship, as well as a common purpose to help those in need. Our Club flower is the hyacinth.

Notes From The President

Hello Ladies,

With pleasure, I share that we had our Annual Fundraiser held at the Triple Crown Country Club this year, on April 19th. Cancer Survivor Steve Del Gardo, owner of the Cannoli Bar Bakery Shop in Covington, shared a fascinating saga about his bout with breast cancer. Our benefit was primarily for the Make-A-Wish Foundation who create life changing wishes for children with critical illness including cancer. One of our special guests was President Teresa Schmidt with the Kentucky General Federation of Woman's Clubs. Our club netted close to $7,000. Yay for all the hard work!

Triple Crown prepared a yummy glazed chicken and short rib beef luncheon. Jenny Leach gave our invocation. We offered many silent auction as well as live auction items. Our Live Auction was emceed by Steve Sturgil, President of the Boone County Kiwanis Club and FWC supporter, and our own Lana Kay Brueggen. And our Bling Table was a hit along with our many door prizes. We also enjoyed a round of Heads or Tails which raised funds for our event. I want to thank our members and guests who made this a wonderful event! We had many volunteers who all did a great job with our fundraiser.

In other news, as we are getting back to normal, we are going to try out a few spots before settling in our new club “home” since we will no longer be holding our monthly meetings at The Gathering House. A separate email will be sent out to advise of the meeting location for that month, until we can find a permanent home...
