WHAT IS FIRST LEGO LEAGUE JR?
FIRST LEGO League Jr is a hands-on program designed for young kids, ages 6-10. Each year, teams of 2 to 6 children, guided by 2 adult coaches, begin the exploration of a yearly, real-world themed challenge, with an exclusive LEGO® Education Inspire Model.
Time Commitment: 1 - 1 1/2 hour meeting, 1 day per week
FLL Jr Teams will:
- Build the yearly themed Inspire Model, provided by FIRST.
- Follow Engineering Notebooks, which will guide them through their season and their learning journey.
- Then design and construct a model using LEGO bricks and LEGO WeDo kit, based on the yearly themed challenge.
- Include motorized moving parts using the WeDo kit and also incorporate the themed Inspire Model into part of their main model.
- Present their research journey on a "Show Me" poster.
- Learn Teamwork Skills
- Build self-confidence, knowledge and life skills
- Display and present their model at a FLL Jr. Expo with other teams and explore fun activities at the event.
