Fields of Research
My research focuses on contemporary art history, curatorial studies, museum studies, and gender and sexuality studies. My doctoral research, Curating Otherwise: Queer Intersectional Practices in Contemporary Art Institutions (Maastricht University), examines how curatorial practices in contemporary art institutions engage with queer and intersectional perspectives to challenge institutional norms and expand the possibilities of exhibition-making. Through approaches combining exhibition analysis, ethnographic research, and sensory cultural theory, my work investigates how curating functions not only as a display strategy but also as a critical institutional practice that reshapes knowledge production and public engagement.
My research also explores the relationship between museums, exhibitions, and social participation, particularly focusing on sensory museology and audience studies. Drawing on research experiences in European cultural institutions, including the Van Abbemuseum in the Netherlands, I examine how multisensory exhibition strategies and inclusive curatorial approaches can transform visitor experiences and expand the accessibility of museum spaces. These studies highlight how sensory engagement, emotion, and embodied participation play key roles in contemporary exhibition design and cultural interpretation.
In recent years, I have also been involved in curatorial projects and collaborative research with museums and cultural institutions in Europe and Taiwan. Through these practices, I investigate how curatorial work can serve as a platform connecting artistic production, institutional critique, and community-based cultural practices. My future research will continue to explore how curatorial practices and museum institutions can respond to issues of gender, cultural diversity, accessibility, and social engagement in contemporary society.
