SPRAY, Ore. -- Oregon State Police say a motorcycle rider from Washington was killed in a collision with a deer Sunday (June 23) on Highway 19 west of the town of Spray in Wheeler County in central Oregon. Trooper Cody Weaver says a driver who came upon the scene found the downed motorcycle, rider and dead deer on the highway. Police say 63-year-old Randall L. Upshaw of Lynnwood, Wash., died at the scene.

A Lynnwood, Washington, man died Sunday morning after his motorcycle struck a deer along Highway 19 west of Spray in Wheeler County. The man's name is released in this update.
According to Senior Trooper Cody Weaver, on June 23, 2013 at approximately 7:56 a.m., a passing motorist drove upon the scene of a downed motorcycle on Highway 19 near milepost 89. A deceased adult male and a dead deer were lying along the highway. Preliminary investigation indicates the collision between the 2005 Honda motorcycle and deer may have occurred between 7:00 a.m. and 7:56 a.m. near the center of the highway. The victim, RANDALL L. UPSHAW, age 63, from Lynnwood, Washington, was wearing a protective helmet.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Wheeler County Sheriff's Office, Spray Ambulance, and ODOT.
