Scholarships for Post-graduate Study (Research)
The Micromechanics Lab at the School of Engineering is seeking candidates to fill a PhD position. The PhD student will work on mechanical properties of epoxy nanocomposites reinforced with halloysite nanotubes which requires carrying out experiments and finite element modeling using state-of-the-art equipments, namely the instrumented impact tester, FE-SEM, XRD, Universal tensile machine and multi-physics Finite Element software to investigate basic properties that are responsible for ensuring the mechanical properties of epoxy nanocomposites. The work will be mainly conducted at Monash University Malaysia in collaboration with a few institutes such as USM, UTM, MIMOS and University of NewCastle. The project has been funded by MOHE (FRGS) in November 2013.
We invite applicants (Malaysian citizenship) with first degrees in Material Science and Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, complementing a keen and inquisitive mind plus willingness to explore and push the frontiers of science and engineering in nanocomposites to apply for this post. Funding for this post is available for 36 months.
