Research collaboration with Monash
At the Micromechanics Lab in Monash, we have a range of instruments for mechanical testing:
1. Microtensile test systems, each comprising a PURSLOW horizontal tensile test rig mounted on a Nikon inverted microscope;
2. Microindentor;
3. Instron (2-column) tensile test rig for large sample testing.
Molecular modelling is carried out on workstations using:
1. Hyperchem
1- Biomedical Freezer (-20 C) for preservation of samples.
2-Fibre synthesis (nanofibre) is carried out using a newly acquired electro-spinning device.
3.Instrumented Instron Impact tester with automatic nothing machine
In addition, we have accessed to the following instruments at the ChemEng Lab:
4. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy
5. Thermogravimetry
6. Gas Chromatography
7. Incubators
8. UV-vis
9. UV cross-linker (new)
10. Furnaces
In addition, we have accessed to the following instruments at the Nano-Analytical Lab:
11. Field emission- Scanning electron microscopy and normal Scanning electron microscopy
12. We recently have a D8-Discover XRay machine.
Finite Element modelling is carried out at the Mechanical and Electrical Computing Labs using:
1. ANSYS
2. COMSOL
