Our Careers Vision
At Ferryhill School, careers education supports all students to make informed choices and raises aspirations. Our careers programme is planned across Years 7–11 to ensure that students progressively develop the knowledge and skills they need for future education, training and work.
About This Careers Website
This website provides information about careers education, guidance and progression opportunities at Ferryhill School. It brings together key resources, advice and support to help students make informed decisions at important transition points. Careers guidance at Ferryhill School is independent, impartial and focused on supporting students to explore the full range of post-16 and post-18 pathways, including further education, apprenticeships, technical education and employment. Students are encouraged to consider all options and are supported to make choices that are right for them.

Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) forms an integral part of student life at Ferryhill School. We encourage all students to develop high aspirations and consider a broad and ambitious range of careers. We use a wide range of different contacts including local employers, parents, training providers and further & higher education establishments to help students understand where different choices can take them in the future.

How we measure impact
We regularly evaluate the impact of our careers programme using Compass+, the Future Skills Questionnaire (FSQ), student, parent/carer and employer feedback, participation records, intended and actual destination data and sustained destination information. This information is used to identify strengths, target support and continually improve our careers provision.
Working with Students
Our aim is to inspire and motivate students by working closely with our local Further Education centres, Higher Education centres, apprenticeship services, training providers and local employers to ensure students have access to all opportunities available to them.
