Welcome to Troop 89 East Windsor Connecticut Boy Scouts of America!

We meet at the Scout_Hall Youth Center at 28 Abbe Rd., East Windsor, CT every Thursday at 6:30 pm.

Troop History: We're making it...be patient...

Our Troop was first Chartered in 1934 !!

We still have the document, framed of course, along with many other historic documents which include a Letter of Commendation from President Ronald Reagan addressed to Scoutmaster: Edward "Chief'' Sugden . A TELEGRAM from President Reagan is also included in these documents.

Ed, "Chief" was well-known for his lifelong commitment to the Boy Scouts. He founded the Broad Brook Troop 89 with 18 members in 1934.

He was their Scout Master for over 50 years, and was known as "Chief" to the over 800 boys he guided through scouting, 14 of which became Eagle Scouts.

Among his personal scouting awards were the Scout Master's Key, and the Silver Beaver Award for "Distinguished Service to Boyhood''

The award was presented by the former Charter Oak Council (now the Ct Rivers Council) in 1944.

One of the Scouts that served under the "Chief" is the driving force behind East Windsor's "Scout Hall Youth Center", at one time just a determined dream of a large Barn, it now serves as a monument to East Windsor's Scouting Heritage.
