eLearning Benchmarking exercise: Focus Groups
Thank you for agreeing to participate in this Focus Group
The eLearning benchmarking exercise aims to obtain information about the experience of staff and student use of the NOW VLE and associated technologies. The findings will yield the extent of use, barriers to use and staff development needs that are expected to assist schools with their planning.
We are holding staff and student focus groups within the Schools to help us to assess how much progress the University is making in using web-based technologies to support learning.
The University is prioritising eLearning development as it has been identified as offering a number of benefits to learners
Connectivity – access to information available on a global scale
Flexibility – learning can take place any time, any place
Interactivity – assessment of learning can be immediate and autonomous
Collaboration – use of discussion tools can support collaborative learning beyond the classroom
Extended opportunities – e-content can reinforce and extend classroom-based learning
Motivation – multimedia resources can make learning fun
The focus groups are also being run following the staff online survey. This combined approach will help us to obtain an overview of elearning at the University.
