John McCulloch writes: The motto inside depends on the pun on the word Schot, (with a capital S means Scotsman - with a small s means either a shot from a gun or a shot of alcohol in a glass) "Better a whole Scotsman in the house than half a shot (of whisky?) on the bar" would be a literal translation - loses something I think.
John McCulloch writes: "The Dutch programme must have been printed in Edinburgh by a compositor who knew no Dutch - the language on the back of the programme would make any self-respecting Dutchman choke into his Oranjeboom."
