May 2025: It is graduation season :) Congratulations to Yetunde, Anh-Thu, Anoushka (and their mentors Daniel and Yuya) for completing undergraduate honors thesis in our lab!

Apr 2024: Undergraduate researcher in the lab, Nadia Sadri (mentored by Avrami) defended her undergraduate honors thesis with distinction. She also presented her research last month at the TAGC. Congratulations Nadia!
Mar 2024: It had been a while since we did something fun. So we crammed it all in by doing an Escape Room, Kareoke and Korean barbecue last week :)

In other December news, three undergads in the lab received the DURF grant! Congratulations to Yetunde, Nadia and Anoushka.
June 2023: Congratulations to Jun who defended his PhD thesis! He is going to Janelia for postdoc research in Liu lab. After mastering genomics, Jun will be doing some imaging :) Looking forward to Jun's continuing accomplishments!

May 2022: We have graduates! Rawit got his BS degree and will go to law school at Columbia and Anna got her MS degree and will start her PhD at Brown! Yes, we are still masking in the lab, but happy to be all together again.

Dec 2021: Jun received the 2022-2023 Dean's Dissertation Fellowship from NYU GSAS. Congratulations Jun!

November 2015: Big news!! Max defended his PhD beautifully in less than 5 years in the lab. Congratulations Max, we will miss you!

January 2012: We received the Basil O’Connor Starter Scholar Research Award for our work on condensin targeting.
January 2012: Uchita received the NYU Biology Master’s Research Grant for her work to determine the condensin binding sites in meiotic nuclei.
October 2011: Max took a close up picture of an embryo. The picture on the left shows DNA in the 15-cell stage C. elegans embryo. The picture on the right is the processed signal. At this stage the embryo is still determining its sex
