Microlearning SYstem Design

In 2019, I participated in the AECT Design Competition for NATO. As part of the process, I worked with another student to present a design for the transition of current training at NATO to a microlearning platform. The core of the design included using already existing learning objects and a tagging system to allow for self-directed learning and the ability to collect data and match them against learning objectives. Below you will find:

  • The final document

  • The presentation

We placed third because, due to unforeseen circumstances and AECT competition rules, we were unable to participate in the final presentation. However, NATO did award our department part of the award, and is using our concept design as they transition their methods of training.

I learned a lot about working with others, planning, and design for presentations from the competition team at AECT. Their feedback was invaluable in understanding design not just in the flow of instruction, but in the design of presentations.
