Spectator Tips

1. Dress warm! It can get very cold standing and watching races. A recommendation is to wear 2-3 layers underneath a winter coat, hand-warmers and toe-warmers, snow boots, warm mittens, hat, scarf.

2. Arrive early to the meet if possible. Parking at some of the race venues can be a challenge. We encourage you to car pool if you can. Some events may require riding a shuttle bus, so allow extra time.

3. Cheer for all athletes, not just your own. Nordic ski racing is tough and they need all of the encouragement that they can get

4. Pay attention when crossing the course; look both ways before crossing as a race may be in progress. Do not walk on the trails, walk on the side to avoid stepping on the tracks.

5. Encourage your athlete after their race. Be supportive. It is a fun, but challenging sport.

6. Your athlete may not know how they did right away because of the type of race format. Results will be posted later that evening on either Gopher State Events or on SkinnySki.

7. Race loops, locations and start times may change due to weather and grooming conditions, so please be flexible on race day.

8. Cowbells are always welcome :)
