2.8.1 Site of production of ADH
ADH is produced by the hypothalamus and released by the pituitary gland.
2.8.2 Effects of ADH
ADH increases the permeability of the kidney tubule cells causing more water to be reabsorbed and the volume of urine formed to decrease. When the pituitary gland releases more ADH, the volume of urine formed is decreased, forming a concentrated urine. When the pituitary gland releases less ADH, the volume of urine formed is increased, forming a dilute urine.
