Potential egg cells known as follicles in the ovaries secrete oestrogen.
2.4.1 Effects of oestrogen
Oestrogen causes the repair and growth of the uterine lining.
High concentrations of oestrogen inhibits production of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This prevents maturation and development of more follicles.
Oestrogen at high concentration stimulates the pituitary gland to release luteinising hormone (LH).
