2.4.1 Site of production of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
FSH is released by the pituitary gland directly into the bloodstream where it exerts its effect at the ovaries.
2.4.2 Effects of FSH
FSH stimulates the follicles in the ovaries to mature and develop. Only one follicle will eventually develop into the Graafian follicle that releases the mature ovum.
FSH stimulates the follicles to secrete oestrogen.
