The Locust Emergency prepaRedness Toolkit also allows to easily share and update information by different parties involved in locust emergency prevention and operations such as national locust control agencies, FAO Representations, regional and international organizations, and other UN organizations.
This interactive platform supports three levels of users: end-users, collaborators and administrators, who have different roles and privileges.
The end-users are the staff of the national Locust Control Units, the Regional Locust Control Organizations (DLCO-EA, IRLCO-CSA), the national and international consultants, the FAO Representations in locust affected countries/regions, the emergency coordination units, donor agencies and any other interested party. The end-users may directly browse or, if needed, download information. Most sections are open to the public without restriction, however sensitive data such as the rosters of consultants can only be accessed by administrators and collaborators.
The collaborators are the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region (CLCPRO), the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC) and the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in South-West Asia (SWAC). The collaborators have the possibility to edit, add, delete and amend information, therefore to participate in the maintenance and updating of the database.
The administrators are the Locust Group of the FAO EMPRES Plant Pests Unit of the Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP), the Food Chain Crisis – Emergency Management Unit (FCC-EMU) Operations Officers in the Emergencies and Resilience Division (OER) and the Food Chain Crisis Management Framework (FCC) Coordinator in the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department (AG). The administrators manage the settings of the eLERT (users, database, layout, themes, etc.).
How to become a member: The users who are entitled to become collaborators should send a request by email to: eLERT.adm@gmail.com. The request should include: name, surname, organization and title. The requester will receive an e-mail with a username and password.
