If you are tent camping, bring your tent, sleeping bag, pad, pillow, and a ground cloth or tarp
Registration fee - cash or check (additional $30 for meals Friday - Sunday)
Headlamp or flashlight
Your mountain bike
Your own snacks - nearest store is about 15 minutes away
Your bike helmet (required)
BYOB, Letcher County is a "moist" county - you cant buy beer at the stores but you can buy alcoholic beverages by the drink in restaurants
Water bottle and a personal gallon of water. Water is very limited on top of the mountain and we have to haul jugs of water in. Please conserve!
Please dont bring your dog. Wileys has several dogs and they are friendly to humans but territorial with other dogs. A dog fight is a terrible thing.
If you are cooking your own meals, you will need to bring your own food and your own cooking utensils. You can store your food in the refrigerators and cook on the stove in the kitchen but you will need to be self sufficient. There isnt a very easy way to wash dishes on top of the mountain so bring paper plates. Also please be aware that there are bears on the mountain, so you should not store any food or snacks inside your tent
Swimsuit and towel - it will be warm enough to swim in late September but night time temperatures will be cool
A fleece jacket or sweater
Rain gear
Personal items, toothbrush etc
Any bike tools you may need
Please do not bring any glass containers or styrofoam cups, plates etc. Paper plates and cups are OK.
We will provide a bike pump, patch kit and a few basic tools, plus plates and silverware for meals. We will have a small first aid kit for scrapes, cuts, etc.
We will also provide trail maps and other information.
Whitesburg has a hospital, Wal Mart, several grocery stores, Rite Aid, etc.
Cell phone reception at the campground is good but there is no wireless. You can get free wireless at the Public Library on Main Street or in front of the Super 8 Motel.
