Trails

There are many mountain biking trail opportunities starting from our campground at Wileys Last Resort. Some are unexplored.

  • Scuttlehole Gap Trail is an old wagon road from back in the day when people drove horse-drawn wagons over the 2900-foot high mountain. It has been lightly used by four-wheelers and is not too badly eroded. It is a difficult ride. It starts from the Little Shepherd Trail and runs straight down Pine Mountain - it's a hair-raising ride in places with a total elevation drop of about 1800 feet. At the bottom, you will pick up a blacktopped road in a remote area

  • The Little Shepherd Trail is a 60-mile long fire/logging road on top of Pine Mountain (Pine Mountain is a 120-mile long ridge that goes from Pineville KY to Breaks Interstate Park). Some of The Little Shepherd Trail is paved and some is gravel. It is a twisty winding one lane road that is very lightly used. About 13 miles from Wileys Last Resort is Kingdom Come State Park.

  • MARS Rocks - There are a number of ways to ride to the Mars Rocks from our campground, including the Sisters Trail, the Muhammed Alley, the Path to Enlightenment and you can also go down on Faith Hill.

  • Horse Trails on Pine Mountain - the state built these a few years ago and there has been little usage. Trail condition and its suitability for mountain biking is unknown.

  • Ride down Pine Mountain on US 119 for an amazing thrill ride. Its a super fun with amazing views

  • Tower Road - Many weird and interesting radio and TV antennas up here (Instead of the Eiffel Towers, Jim calls them "The Awful Towers" )

  • Flamingo Trail - Trail through the woods and across the property

  • Black Mountain Trail - Ride through reclaimed and former strip mines on an old Jeep trail on Black Mountain near the town of Eolia, KY

  • Town Hill Trails - A reclaimed strip mine near Whitesburg behind the A.R.H. hospital
