Academic achievements
Some of past academic and professional achievements are as follows:
Reviewer of the month (August 2019), Engineering Report (Wiley).
Recipient of InterPore Rosette 2015 (Annual Award of International Society for Porous Media in 2015)
Nominated for Asia-Pacific Distinguished Lecture in Unsaturated Soils (among short-listed nominees, Technical Committee on Unsaturated Soils, International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, ISSMGE )
Nominated for Fraunhofer Award for Young Researchers (International Society for Porous Meida, InterPore
Invited co-editor for a special issue in Vadose Zone Journal on the principle of the effective stress in partly saturated porous media. The issue was published by Soil Science Society of America, and has received wide international readership (it has been among most-read papers of vadose zone journal since its online appearance).
Co-convener of a mini-symposium in InterPore 2016 conference in Cincinnati titled “Mechanics of unsaturated porous media: the interplay of phases and interfaces in variousphenomena” together with Giuseppe Buscarnera (Northwestern University), Ronaldo Borja (Stanford University), William Likos (University of Wisconsin-Madison), John S. McCartney (University of California at San Diego), and Jacques Huyghe (Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Limerick).
Co-convener of a mini-symposium in EMI 2015 conference in Stanford entitled “Mechanics of unsaturated porous materials: From geo-materials and building materials, to food andbeyond ” together with S. Majid Hassanizadeh (Utrecht University) and Ning Lu (Colorado School of Mines).
Session co-chair and main organizer of the mini-symposium entitled Unsaturated poromechanics: experimental, theoretical and numerical studies in InterPore annual conference 2015 together with S. M. Hassanizadeh (UU), J.-M. Pereira (Paris Tech), C. Jommi (TU Delft), and A. Askarinejad (TU Delft)
Session co-chair for two mini-symposia in Intepore 2013 conference, one on the principle of the effective stress in multiphase material and another on bio-clogging and bio-cementation in porous media
Served as a scientific co-chair in Euromech Colloquium 539 (The colloquium was held under auspices of European Mechanics Society, Utrecht University and TU/e)
Recognized reviewer (Certificate of reviewing for Advances in Water Resources)
Third civil engineering student of the year in Iran, Haseb e Karaji National Festival of Civil Engineering Students (Sharif University of Technology)
First rank (MSc and BSc studies), PhD and MSc dissertations were evaluated as excellent:
PhD dissertation was on a thermodynamic approach to determination of the effective stress parameter in unsaturated soils considering net stress effects
MSc research was on a fractal approach for determining soil water retention curve (Capillary pressure-saturation curve)
First Behpoor Award (Shiraz University and Behpoor Award foundation); the award was given in recognition of outstanding educational and research activities. The award is in memory of late Prof. Behpoor, a faculty member of Shiraz University.
Research output measures
If measures such as H-index to be taken representative, then according to Scopus my H-index would be 9 and google scholar gives it as 11. A lot to write apparently, if listening to these measures :-) or wait for a century for my H-index to grow and get mature.
Personal achievements
I have loved music and languages; in music, however, I have not found the required time and chance to get to any good level, for languages, I could spend a bit of time during the past couple of years.
Language skills
Language skills can boost your service to scientific community and research communication:
English (Excellent in reading, comfortable in speaking, skillful at writing, and fairly good at listening), TOEFL IBT test score: 85, test date: October 17, 2007
French (Intermediate in French speaking [though have forgot a lot now], fairly good at its oral comprehension, and beginner in French writing), TEFAQ test score: B1, test date: November 30, 2012.
German (Knowledge in basic to immature intermediate level; I have to rebuild it): Level B2+ completed at Deutsches Sprachinstitut Engel (Shiraz, Summer-Fall 2019).
Spanish: A1 level online course taken in Radin Institute (Shiraz, Iran, Summer 2020)
Dutch (Knowledge of basics: a basic course covering basics, in which the book titled “Nederlands voor zelfstudie” published by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam was partially used, was taken in December 2017 in Mellal Language Institute (Shiraz, Iran)).
Family of Nordic (North Germanic) Languages (e.g., Norwegian-Danish-Swedish): very little of Norwegian; learning Nordic Languages is planned for next four to five years
