We seek prospective graduate students who will actively conduct interdisciplinary research.
Applicants, who should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geoinformatic Engineering, Earth Science, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science/Engineering, or related fields, are expected to have experience in remote sensing/GIS data processing, and/or computer programming skills.
Regardless of their majors, all applicants should be self-motivated and maintain a positive attitude towards a voyage of scientific and engineering investigation. They should bear in mind Confucius(孔子)'s famous aphorism "Those who know the truth are not equal to those who love it, and they who love it are not equal to those who delight in it (知之者 不如好之者 好之者 不如樂之者)". If you wish to conduct research along well-trodden paths, please do not apply.
Prospective topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
Generative AI–based synthetic satellite image generation: Cloud removal using multi-sensor and multi-temporal imagery, and virtual spectral band generation for high-resolution optical imagery
Multi-sensor and multi-temporal satellite image classification for nationwide crop mapping
Spatio-temporal-spectral image fusion using geostatistics and generative AI
Environmental thematic mapping using multi-scale geostatistical/statistical models
