CFD stands for computational fluid dynamics that uses numerical analysis and algorithms to solve and analyze problems that involve fluid flows. CFD has evolved and its usage has been extended to more fields, physics and applications, such as fluid & solid interaction, heat transfer, chemical reaction, combustion, noise prediction, etc. One needs to know, at least, thermal dynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and computational fluid dynamics to run basic CFD simulations.
