About Wapsipinicon Country Club
The clubhouse was built by prison labor in a three-year project.
Rock for the foundation was taken from the bluffs overlooking the
river and the white oak logs were hauled with horse-drawn
bobsleds during the winter from a timber up the Buffalo creek.
The club was formally dedicated in June 1924.

The Al Norton Cup
In October of 2013 Wapsi Country Club, and the EIGA lost a great member in Al Norton. After years of battling bouts of cancer, Al lost his fight to this terrible disease. Al was a lifelong member at WCC, and participated in over 40 years of EIGA tournaments, winning two individual titles, as well helping Wapsi win numerous team championships over the years. In 1998 Al was inducted into the EIGA Hall of Fame for his years of service, participation, and dedication towards the EIGA.
Along with the approval of the EIGA representatives from each club, and the family of Al Norton, and through donations from Al's close friends, the Al Norton Cup was established. This trophy will be given each year to the winning EIGA team as a traveling trophy to be kept at their respective club for a twelve month period. The trophy will then be handed over each year to the winning team at the EIGA finals in August. The Al Norton Cup is a great symbol of Al's success in the EIGA, and a great way to honor a man who has meant so much to our golfing organization.
Below are pictures from the ceremony in December of 2013 in which the winning team from Wapsi Country Club was presented with the Al Norton Cup for the very first time!
