eaH Robot Poster Contest

engineers and architects of Hawaii (eaH)

are sponsoring a Robot Poster Contest for Middle School Students.

Public, Private and Homeschool teachers are encouraged to engage their students by entering. Please review the below and express your interest by Contacting Us at eaHawaii@gmail.com.

  • The range of dollar awards to classes will be from $50 to $200.

  • The Theme for the Poster Contest is “Robot”. Illustrated Robot or Robots should be modeled upon the students favorite animals.

  • This contest is being launched in conjunction with eaH’s programs for “100 Years of Architecture and Engineering” series on Olelo Channel 53. The April program features a MIT student from Hawaii, who gave a Zoom presentation to eaH on the research, design and testing of robots for the Subterranean Robot Challenge!

  • The Robot Challenge show airs Sundays at 1PM on May 2, and May 9. The show can be viewed anytime on-line by going to Olelo.org and clicking on the ‘Ōlelo NET’ tab or click on this link olelo.org/olelonet and then searching for ‘Subterranean Challenge’.

  • The Robot or Robots illustrated in the Poster should have a clear problem or goal to accomplish. The Poster should illustrate how the robot or robots solves or completes the problem or goal. The problem or goal can be anything and is up to the student to define. Include a short description of how Robot operates, the goal and how Robot completes its goal.

  • eaH will assign one of its Members as a facilitator to meet and work with each Teacher promoting the activity for their students.

  • Posters will be judged based on the clarity and ingenuity of the Poster’s illustration depicting the Robot or Robots, the problem or goal and the how the Robot or Robots solves the student's problem.

  • Selected students and their teachers will be invited to join a Zoom meeting with EAH to present their posters.

  • Student Zoom presentations may be recognized on one of eaH’s future monthly Olelo Series.

  • Contact eaHawaii@gmail.com for more information and to enter.

The video below, and others on YouTube, provide ideas on how to draw Robots.

WE WILL BE PLEASED TO HEAR FROM YOU!
