Overdeity: Ilu
Lore
(Enuma Elish) Ilu derives his powers from the Tablets of Destiny, which record the fate of the universe. In the distant past, the blue dragon Anzû, helped by the devil Druaga and the demon Orcus, stole the Tablets from Ilu while he was bathing in the holy waters. "The rivers dry up and the gods are stripped of their powers." Ilu gathered the gods to find a champion to recover the tablets and only Tyr (Ninurta) volunteered because the other gods were scared of the powers of the Tablets. With the Tablets, the three conspirators ascended to greater godhood. Tyr hunted them down with arrows and tore off Anzû's wings and decapitated him. (Baal Cycle) However, Anzû was later resurrected from the Abyss by the Elemental Lady Ishtara (Anat) with her power of healing and became Set.
(Eddas) When the monstrous wolf Fenrir was born, the gods viewed him as too strong and dangerous. Durin crafted a magical fetter called Gleipnir that is impossible to break in order to bind him. The gods challenged Fenrir to break Gleipnir to prove his strength, promising that he'd be freed if he cannot break free by himself. To prove their good faith, Fenrir requested that one of the gods put his hand into his jaw. Only Tyr was brave enough to do so. When Fenrir realised that he had been tricked by a magical fetter, the gods started laughing and he bit off Tyr's hand in revenge. It has been prophetised that Fenrir will break free during Ragnarök and that he will kill Oghma.
(SRD 5e, Alignment in the Multiverse) According to myth, the good-aligned gods who created humans, elves and dwarves gave them free will to choose their moral paths, knowing that good without free will is slavery. The evil deities who created other races, though, made those races to serve them. Those races have strong inborn tendencies that match the nature of their gods. Most orcs share the violent, savage nature of the orc gods, and are thus inclined toward evil. Even half-orcs feel the lingering pull of Orcus’ influence.
