Skill Points at 1st Level
(2 + Int modifier) ×4.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
Blackguards are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields).
Aura of Evil
The power of a blackguard’s aura of good (see the detect evil spell) is equal to her blackguard level.
Detect Good
At will, a blackguard can use detect evil, as the spell.
Divine Grace
A blackguard gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all saving throws.
The following abilities cost a magic point, which the blackguard can restore from resting in a tavern.
Smite Evil
A blackguard may attempt to smite good with one normal melee attack. She adds her Charisma bonus (if any) to her attack roll and deals 2 extra points of damage per blackguard level. If the blackguard accidentally smites a creature that is not good, the smite has no effect, but the ability still uses a magic point.
Lay on Hands
A blackguard with a Charisma score of 12 or higher can heal wounds (her own or those of others) by touch. With one use of this ability, she can heal a total number of hit points of damage equal to her Charisma bonus x her blackguard level / 2.
Sneak Attack
This ability, gained at 4th level, is like the rogue ability of the same name. The extra damage increases by +1d6 every third level beyond 4th (7th and 10th). If a blackguard gets a sneak attack bonus from another source the bonuses on damage stack.
Fiendish Servant
Upon or after reaching 5th level, a blackguard can call a fiendish horse to serve him.
Beginning at 4th level, a blackguard gains the ability to cast a small number of divine spells, which are drawn from the blackguard spell list. A blackguard must choose and prepare her spells in advance.
To prepare or cast a spell, a blackguard must have a Wisdom score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a blackguard’s spell is 10 + the spell level + the blackguard’s Wisdom modifier.
Like other spellcasters, a blackguard can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Wisdom score.
A blackguard prepares and casts spells the way a cleric does. A blackguard may prepare and cast any spell on the blackguard spell list, provided that she can cast spells of that level, but she must choose which spells to prepare during her daily meditation.
