Who is eligible to receive grant funds:
Grant applications can be submitted by any church or committee of the Classis of Delaware-Raritan. Particular grant areas include Congregational Revitalization, Church Planting & Multiplication, and Pastoral Renewal. Please refer to the Grant Application for more details.
How are Grant Funds Allocated?
Funds allocated for each round of the grant process is to be no more than 5% of the total of the Foundation balance at the end of April. This typically equates to roughly $40,000 available for annual allocation.
Are there limitations to the awarded funds?
Grants that are looking specifically towards community ministry or pastoral renewal are given more attention over grants looking for funds to address capital projects.
When are Grant Applications Received?
Grant window for submission of application is from March 1 to May 1 of the given year. Applications are only received once a year. Churches are encouraged to use the year from May to March to consider new means of ministry of which to apply.
What is the Average Award of Grant Dollars?
This is dependent upon how many grant requests are received and the extent of the funds requested. On average, grants are awarded in the range of $5,000 - $10,000, but greater and lower rewards have been made as well.
What is expected from the church receiving the funds?
All churches who are awarded a grant are expected to submit a written report with any supporting data (pictures, stories, etc.) of the use of the funds for the Classis Foundation meeting held at the conclusion of the October Classis Stated Session
When will churches be notified if they are awarded a grant?
The Trustees meet shortly after the application window closes to review and discuss. Decisions are made and churches will be notified within 4-6 weeks of their decisions. Awards will be sent with the notification.
