Background
"The Odyssey" an epic narrative poem that may or may not have been written by Homer, a blind poet of ancient Greece was composed between 900 and 700 BC. The Odyssey is considered to be the foundation for every hero journey story told in Western Civilization. It tells of the attempt of one Greek soldier, Odysseus, to get home after the Trojan War.
Class Assignments
Due September 20
Research and present a report on a god or goddess chosen from the list of those who were involved in the story of Odysseus. The presentation should be 5 to 10 minutes long and will include:
A visible presentation of a poster (no bigger than 8 1/2" x 11"), a skit, or some other pre-approved option will teach students the details of the mythology that are necessary for understanding of the story of Odysseus.
The telling of a myth related to the god or goddess. The telling must be presented as a storyteller would. This means you need to know the story well enough to tell it with out reading or memorizing. A copy of the myth needs to be turned in at the time of the presentation.
Two questions about the god or goddess which could be included on a quiz on the subject.
