Three Strike Policy

What is the Three Strike Policy?

Students involved in the Theatre Department at Doherty will operate under a Three Strike Policy. This means that after 3 of the following instances, students will be removed from the current show and ineligible for the following show either in the current season or the following year’s season.

What Constitutes a Strike?

· Missing rehearsal without notifying the director on the audition form (emergencies excluded). You must realize by being part of a production you are sacrificing several hours of your day. You promise to reduce stress by employing time management skills and organizing your life. You must understand that you need to communicate effectively with the director, stage managers, and your parents with regards to your schedule and that you will try to schedule appointments on days when you are not on call for rehearsal.

· Arriving late to rehearsal (An old saying in theatre is “If you’re on time for call, you’re 15 minutes late.” BE EARLY.)

· Not attending on days of set construction (unless prior arrangements have been made with Mrs. Shafer)

· When building the set or working around tools, safety comes first, open-toe shoes and headphones onstage are NOT permitted in the work areas. Failure to comply will result in a strike

· Use of foul language

· Negative attitude directed toward directors, fellow cast members, or crew members

· Neglecting to sign in on the call board prior to rehearsal

· Leaving a rehearsal or a show without permission of the director

· Leaving before strike is finished on the last Saturday

· You must not blame your involvement in DHS drama for your poor grades. You should understand that failing your classes may result in your removal from the show and does influence future casting decisions.

· Failure to pay for an item ordered- (shirt, DVD, Thespian dues, conference dues)

· Failure to comply with school and district rules will result in a strike
