About
BACKGROUND
The Disaster Management Institute (DMI) was inaugurated in August 2016 as one of the School Center of Excellence (SCoE) institutes with the primary mission of advancing research in disaster management focusing on four key areas:
Mobilization and Service Operations Management: DMI is at the forefront of research in mobilization and service operations management in disaster scenarios. We collaborate with like-minded organizations, agencies, and universities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of disaster response operations.
Risk Assessment and Planning: Our institute is dedicated to the critical field of risk assessment and planning. We work closely with partners to develop strategies and methodologies that enable proactive risk assessment and comprehensive disaster preparedness plans.
Pre-Disaster Activities: DMI places a strong emphasis on research and initiatives related to pre-disaster activities. This includes community preparedness, community empowerment and social intervention, which are crucial in reducing the impact of disasters.
Built Environment and Socio-Economic Recovery: We are committed to researching the built environment and socio-economic recovery post-disaster. Our studies delve into recovery, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and socio-economic aspects related to disaster resilience.
DMI's research activities are driven by a commitment to making a substantial impact in these vital areas of disaster management. We align our research endeavors with the university's specialized areas and collaborate extensively with private companies, government agencies, and both local and international universities.
Education and community engagement are integral components of DMI's mission. We actively engage with various communities, including the general public, businesses, schools, non-profit organizations, and other interested parties to foster awareness and build disaster resilience.
We welcome collaborations and partnerships to organize conferences, training programs, executive courses, and other academic activities aimed at advancing knowledge and expertise in mobilization and service operations management, risk assessment and planning, pre-disaster activities, and built environment and socio-economic recovery.
Join us at DMI in our collective effort to advance research, education, and community engagement for a more resilient and better-prepared society in the face of disasters.
