Professional Dispositions Statement
As an educator, you are apart of the only profession that is responsible for teaching everyone how to be successful in other professions. Professional dispositions are important to have when creating an effective learning environment. I believe in being very transparent with my students. I want to be able to ensure they are college and/or career ready once they leave my class. First, educators must create relationships with their students to make them want to buy in. Before you can build these relationships, you must make sure you are open minded, patient, willing to work with others and believe in the students you serve. It takes a special individual to be an educator because it comes with so many different hats. You are a supporter, listener, caregiver, shoulder to cry on, inspiration, motivator and so much more. Every professional disposition you embody become apart of you as an educator. All of these qualities can be the push to helping your students become a future Nobel Peace Prize Winner, artist, author, scientist, poet, dancer, social justice activist. The sky is the limit!
My assessment results reflect who I am when I can educating my students. I believe it is utterly important to make sure I am creating the best environment for my students to learn. As educator, there are many thing you must understand in order to be effective. For example, I know that all of my students are different and have different learning styles but all of my students have the capability to learn. It make take more to teach one student than another. Every student has different needs. As an educator, you have to find ways to cater to the needs of all of your students no matter what. I am committed to teaching my students and plan effectively in order to do so. Relationship building is a big key to creating an ideal classroom environment.
There is always room for improvement as an educator. I have many things to work on to better myself. For example, I need to find ways to better at organizing. Organization is very important as an educator. There is so much paperwork related to students and instruction that is vital to the learning process. Educators have to find the best way to do things in their classroom. It has to feel right and every educator may do something different. Personally, I do things in my classroom to suit the needs of my students in addition to my needs as their teacher. I have started researching different instructional strategies to try with my students as well as different ways to engage my students. I have been taking ideas from other teachers around my school in regards to organization. As each year goes by, I gradually become closer to being the educator I have envisioned.
