Dear Parent or Guardian,
My name is Miss McFadden, and I am pleased to be your child’s Geometry teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. This is my first year teaching at Eleanor McMain Secondary High School. But the good news is, I have prior experience teaching various high school math courses.
I am originally from St. Louis, MO. I earned my BA in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, MO. During my senior year of my undergraduate career, I was the President of NAACP. During this time, I had the pleasure of working with and mentoring high school students. My work with these students inspired me to want to teach. Upon graduating with my BA, I moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue my career in teaching. I am currently in school completing my master’s degree.
My classroom is space for my students to grow, learn and achieve their goals. I work diligently to ensure that my classroom is a safe place. I promote teamwork as we all work to achieve a common goal. Goal setting is very important in my classroom as well. The structure of my class is built so students can become more dependent on themselves but also learn to work with their classmates. My expectations for my students are very simple. I expect my students to show respect to themselves and others, take responsibility for their learning and be dedicated to the work that is done in the classroom. I create work that will ensure students are college and career ready.
In order for students to be their best self in my class, I believe communicating with parents and guardians is very important. During the first week of school, I make sure to get parent or guardian contact information for each student. Within the two weeks of school, I will be in contact with each student’s parent or guardian via phone or email. I like to contact parents and guardians by whatever method of communication is most convenient for you. I am available for meetings or phone conferences every day during my planning period (3rd period) from 11:47am-1:58pm. I also use Remind.com to keep everyone updated on homework, quizzes and tests the students will have during the course of the year. I will be adding everyone to their child’s specific class period on this application to ensure you will be receiving accurate information. I am looking forward to meeting and speaking with you all. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions you may have! I am looking forward to a wonderful, productive school year!
Best Regards,
Danielle M. McFadden
