Each student is provided a unique login to the course management system. Students are told to keep this information confidential. The Office of Technology Services handles all password assignments/issues. Faculty members are requested (during mandatory training for teaching online) to use multiple assessments in online courses to decrease the likelihood of cheating (someone else posing as student) because studies have shown (a) faculty get to know their students’ academic abilities/style and more easily can detect forged work and (b) it is harder to pay someone else to do their work if there is more of it. Some faculty members proctor their exams online using web-conferencing technology or require on site proctoring of exams. If the exam is on campus, the instructor requires photo identification. If the exam is proctored at another site (another college, testing center), the test is sent directly to the proctor who then also requires photo identification.
