We hope that most students will take an "american" approach to exams: attend classes and be done with the exam by the end of May, by passing a "final exam" (there is no "midterm" this year).
If you pass the final, you are done with the exam.
You only need to register for one of the formal exams on esse3 so that your mark can be formally granted.
You have to do so within the june and july sessions.
In addition, you also get bonus points (up to 2) from attendance and participation to the exercises in the class.
if you follow the classes carefully, you'll be able to pass the exam comfortably.
If, for any reason you miss (or fail to pass) the final exam, or if you are not satisfied with the marks, you can repeat the exam in the "regular" exam session.
If you physically come to an exam in the regular session or if you do not register for a formal exam session by july, this means that you give up the mark in the final and want to retry it.
Also, there are no bonus points for the regular exam session.
The exam can include ANYTHING taught in the course, except for the par on process mining. All required material is marked as such on this web site
Still ok, see you at one of the regular sessions, but please do come to class during the semester.
Some students tend to endlessly repeat exams until they get lucky with the exam text. Although I personally think that this damages students instead of helping them, it is within your rights to do so. However, to be fair to everybody, we have to be more thorough and complete with the examination for people who repeat the exams multiple times.

Model this process:
(Only expand the shop pool, the other pools can remain collapsed)
A flower shop serves customers from all over the world.
When a customer order flowers and flower arrangements (the order is received by the admin office of
the shop), the shop designer prepares a project for the flower arrangement.
The admin office then, based on the project, prepares a quote for the customer and sends it.
The customer can accept, reject, or propose modifications. The customer has one week to do so. If the
reply arrives after a week, then the shop decides if the quote is still valid or if it expired (because
prices of flowers changes often). if the quote expired, the shop sends a new offer.
If modifications are only on the price (the customer asks for a discount), the request is handled by the
admin office that can decide to accept or reject the request.
In case of rejection, the customer is informed and once again the customer has to decide what to do
(accept, try asking for a smaller discount, or propose modifications).
In case the customer and shop agree, the order is sent for processing (see below).
In case the customer asks for project modifications, the request is passed to the shop designers that prepare an alternative proposal for the customer.
If in the end no agreement is reached, the process just ends.
If the agreement is reached and the order is sent for processing, then the admin office sends to the customer a request for advance payment. when the payment is received, the admin office orders the flowers to the flower distributor and when the flowers arrive they physically go to the location designated by the customer and position the flowers as per the project description.
The customer can cancel the request at any time.
During the preparation phase (that is, before the payment is sent), the cancellation simply results in ending the process.
After the payment is made, the cancellation results in a partial (or no) refund by the shop to the customer. The decision is at the shop discretion, on a case by case basis, typically depending on whether the flowers can be cancelled, on how “profitable” the customer has been in the past, or any other business consideration.
