Albert

About the AI:

Albert is the name given to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) that I have created for the game of diplomacy. Albert is a much more ambitious attempt at improving on earlier AIs.

It has an advanced, and completely different method of evaluating tactical situations. Essentially Albert will deeply think about each power's best moves and in an iterative process make adjustments to the probability of any order set being selected for each power. Albert plays the game with a different characteristic than KMB. It tends to gamble a bit more and try to guess what the other power is going to do. I find it does guess my moves on many occasions, even when I think I am being tricky.

The downside of all this thinking, is that Albert takes much longer to submit orders. Typically between 5-10 seconds depending on the computer. Not too bad for games with humans, but not ideal for bot-bot tournaments. Remember that if you have multiple instances of Albert running on the same computer, it will require much more processing time. It does slow down when powers get to a greater number of units.

It is a work in progress. I publish new versions quite regularly so check back often. It currently is capable of level 20 press. It can form peace agreements, alliances against other powers, and DMZs for specific provinces.
