Primary Education

Recommendations for Primary Education:

  • Ensure students understand badges by giving them ample time to learn about them and showing students numerous examples

  • Make sure the badges are meaningful to children and can be carried forward throughout their education

  • Badges should not replace traditional grades

  • Use badges to reward special skills that are usually not graded (ex. keyboarding, word processing, research skills, etc.)

  • Badges can be used to motivate the behavior troubled children in non-traditional ways

  • Offer students chances to earn "elective badges" where they can choose a badge that appeals to them

  • Ensure earning badges doesn't become another routine/mundane assignments for students.
