Notes on the Guitalele / Requinto

Both the Guitalele and the Requinto have the same tuning.

Guitalele is a hybrid Guitar-Ukelele: sounds like a Ukelele (in linear tuning) in the first 4 strings, and like a guitar with the 5th and 6th strings.

It also sounds like a Requinto (used in Latin American folk music), which is like a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret.

Both the Guitalele, and the Requinto, because of their high pitch, and small fretboards, are suitable for playing leading melodies or fillings.

The Requinto is used extensively in Latin American bolero (Cuba/Mexico) and pasillo (Ecuador/Colombia) music.

To produce different notes, press a string on one of the frets with the left hand, and pluck it with the right hand.
