Reflections on a challenging interview

Throughout your training, there will be a number of patient encounters that don't always go "according to plan". Please keep a log of ‘challenging interview’ experiences (e.g. explaining a diagnosis of autism or cerebral palsy) and document the strategies used, why the strategies were chosen and how they were perceived to work. Challenging issues may include obtaining informed consent, delivering bad news, and addressing anger, confusion and misunderstanding.

A minimum of four reflections should be documented each year.
