In this unit we will be looking at photography and the editing of photos. Your task will be to create a cartoon script on an important topic that effects our lives. The cartoon will be made using photographs you will take and then edit adding speech bubbles.
CRITERIA A - INQUIRY AND ANALYSIS
Task 1 - Cartoons/Comics
First we must learn about cartoons and comics (not television cartoons.) How have they developed over time? How have they been used in the past? How are they used today? What was the first cartoon? (I am sure they go back thousands of years to cave painting!) Are there famous cartoons?
Write 500 words on Cartoons. You chose the scope (the history, Marvel, today, future)
Task 2 - The Topic
Before you start to take your photographs and make your cartoon, you must first think a topic to base you "story" on. The topic must be relevant to your life, whether it be school life or day-to-day life outside of school. Some ideas could be:
Bullying
Eating healthy
Recycling
Keeping fit
Safe internet use
Global Warming
It does not have to be one of these ideas, but they might help you decide on one. Once you have decided it is now time to think of a story. This is important so you do not waste time when it comes to taking the photos. You will know exactly what needs to be done, what needs to be worn, and where the photos need to be taken.
You will need to think of 3 (THREE) ideas before you decide on one of them to create. The cartoon should not have more than 8 photos, ideally 6. You can write your script making notes in each box of what photo will be taken and what sounds make be added. Here are some ideas of templates.
