On December 4 at the Ace Eat Serve Restaurant in Uptown Denver a small group of Law Club revelers entertained 250 Colorado Attorney General Office lawyers in a loud room.
Twisted Christmas carols and old ethics songs. An enthusiastic audience.
Directed by Patrick
On November 18 and 19, at the historic Clocktower Cabaret on the 16th Street Mall, the Law Club performed the 20th (or so) annual Ethics Revue to two sold-out houses of attorneys.
The theme of the show was based on the Clue game and movie. In our version the colorful characters try to discover who killed the ethics investigator, in order to hide evidence of malfeasance.
Their own investigation keeps getting interupted by people coming out on stage and singing songs about legal ethics.
Definitely the most entertaining way to eat lasagna, have a beer, and get three CLE ethics credits.
Directed by Patrick and Spencer

One Thousand Hours
On November 12, as a nice break from relentless show rehearsals, a small group of Law Club cast members spent a fun night singing acapella songs at Fortissimo Denver.
On Tuesday September 16th we performed our usual one-hour lunchtime show for several hundred Colorado State judges at the Judicial Conference in Vail.
We did a reprise of select songs from the November 2024 Ethics Revue and after all this time we were pretty perfect.
The judges thought so too. A standing ovation and "Best part of Judicial Conference."
On June 25th we performed a two hour reprise of the Game of Clones for about two hundred NAPPA attorneys (National Association of Public Pension Attorneys) from all around the country, at the Hilton Denver City Center ...
... at 8:30 in the morning.
Big stage. Excellent acoustics. Only three mics. The audience was drinking coffee rather than beer, but a pretty good crowd. They plan to ask us back when the annual meeting rotates back through Denver in 2036.
Directors Barb and Dana. Panel Phil.
2024
The annual, November Ethics Revue was, once again, held at the Clocktower Cabaret on the Denver 16th Street Mall on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12 and 13, 2024 in the evening.
The show was music heavy. Not much plot but a big cast and amazing musical talent, including many new and returning members.
The audiences both nights ended up standing, and not just because they were getting ready to leave.
While the Game of Clones theme mostly turned out to be about the use and misuse of Artificial Intelligence in modern legal practice, there was a Mother of Dragons, a Sword Warrior, and an actual dragon.
... well, a performer in a dragon costume anyway.
Directors Barb and Dana.
As always, the Law Club attended and performed for the last day (the last hour) of the Colorado Judicial Conference at the Hythe Hotel in Vail. Noonish September 17, 2024 in a large ballroom and on an actual stage.
This is always a special event for the Law Club members. As we walk through the hotel hallways trying to find the bathroom our usual judges and magistrates, and those from around the state, stop us and tell us how happy they are to see us, something that doesn't often happen in our usual practice.
This year was again a one hour reprise of our last November Ethics Revue, The Greatest Ethics Show, with the usual last-minute, panicked substitutions and additions.
.. and as usual the judges stood up as we finished, rather than us standing up for them. Nice!
Directors Julie N. and Ted.
The (sometimes) annual April Law Club dinner was once again held in June this year. That's normal for the organizational skills of the Law Club.
On June 28, 2024 we gathered at the historic University Club downtown, saw old friends, and inducted new friends, continuing an historic tradition that goes back ... well ... longer than any of us have been alive. The traditions of the Law Club live on!
On February 29th, 2024, the Law Club celebrated its quadrennial Judges Leap Year party, once again inviting judges and magistrates to come and hear us sing often-pointed songs about judges.
For once, the party was actually on February 29! Much cheese and wine.
2023
November 14 and 15, 2023, we were once again gathered down in the Clocktower Cabaret for the 17th annual Ethics Revue.
Our title, The Greatest Ethics Show, was a Chorus Line-like theme with players auditioning to perform in the Law Club, for a fictional, future Law Club show.
Clever, right? Casual. Okay to ad lib. (We're looking at you Brian.) And Barb didn't have to write a long, detailed script.
Julie N. and Ted directing.

On September 20, 2023, after catching our breath from the Vail trip, we performed a one hour show with an eclectic variety of songs for the Association of Corporate Counsel at the Greenwood Village Landmark, way down in south metro Denver.
No stage. Crammed into a corner again, looking up at the audience.
At least they fed us ...
Directed by Christine, who also fed us. Panel Phil.

On September 12, 2024 at Vail's Hythe Hotel the Law Club performed the usual one-hour version of the preceding year's Ethics Revue ... the GUARDIANS OF THE GaLAWxy ... for 150 plus Colorado judges and magistrates.
They loved us, as always.
Director Christine
2022
The annual Law Club Ethics Revue was two nights on November 15 and 16, 2022 at the Clocktower Cabaret hidden down under the 16th Street D&F Tower.
The theme was GUARDIANS OF THE GaLAWxy with the cutest angry attorney raccoon that you have ever seen.
After three hours the Bar Lord led us to a final victory over the evil Ban Us, without killing off one-half of the universe, and establishing once again that the Law Club will lower themselves to any depths to come up with a script.
Director Christine.

The usual reprise of the 2021 show, for the Colorado Judicial Conference, was at lunchtime on September 13, 2022 at the Hythe Hotel (Same hotel as every year. Marriott changed the name).
This show each year is the very last item on the judges' conference calendar, and it is always amazing how many judges stick around. We always have 150 or so enthusiastic judges and magistrates in a big meeting room.
... or maybe they just want lunch.
This show was a reprise of November 2021's three hour Paris Fueler's Year Off crammed into one hour with various old players learning new songs and words in just three short rehearsals.
Directed by Jean and David L.
2021
In a slow year following the COVID pandemic, the Law Club returned to the Clocktower Cabaret on November 16 and 17 for the fabulous Ethics Revue.
Entitled Paris Fueler's Year Off, the cast and crew recreated classic movie themes of balancing virtual vs. in person attendance, financial vs. public service success, and work vs. life.
... and yes, major characters did indeed, at the end, drive off into the sunset in a hot sports car.
