Director of Educational Technology and Distance Education, Cynthia (Cindy) Renner, joined Delaware Valley University in 2007. In her role at the university, she works closely with faculty, staff and students to implement effective ways to enhance education through the integration of technology. She is a member of the Academic Leadership Team and recently served on the 2022 Middles States Self-Study Accreditation Committee. She previously served as a member of the ad-hoc Distance Education, Technology Services, Educational Technology, Academic Technology, Economic Recovery and Institutional Review Board committees. She was a co-Project Manager for the Online Learning Strategic Initiative, both Tranches 1 and 2 and she served as co-Liaison, responsible for the student learning section of the 2012 Middle States Self-Study Accreditation committee. She has developed and delivered numerous training sessions, presented and provided consulting services on range of topics related to online teaching and learning, course management system features and other educational technology tools. She's been nominated for Employee of the Year twice and has been teaching several courses for the university in online, hybrid, remote and face-to-face delivery modalities for over 10 years.
Prior to her role at DelVal, Ms. Renner was responsible for the implementation of a corporate wide education and training plan for a 2500-employee company. Her experience in corporate elearning, adult learning and professional development as well as instructional design complemented by her project management and system administration skills give her a well-rounded background that helps her enhance the teaching and learning process, particularly online. In 2003, she received the BEST Award for Excellence in training and development from the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD). Also in 2003, she received received the Lois A. Markovich Innovation Award for recognition of her creative and unique approach to meeting employee developments and training needs with the creation of 'Web Ed', the company's elearning mascot.
Ms. Renner recently earned a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Communications from the University. In 2011, she earned a M.Ed in Educational Leadership and 10 years prior to that a B.A. in Business Management, both from Delaware Valley University as well. She also earned an A.A. in Business Administration from Montgomery County Community College, consistently graduating with honors recognition, achieving a 3.97 GPA. In 2007, she achieved Master Trainer Certification in Teaching and Learning Online. In 2013, she became certified as a Quality Matters Course Reviewer. In 2023, she completed training in the use of OSCQR rubric review process which provides a framework and dashboard that supports a campus-tailored and scalable approach to improving the instructional design of online or blended courses.
Ms. Renner was inducted into Marquis Who’s Who on July 16, 2024. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.
Ms. Renner's professional memberships include Educause, Online Learning Consortium (OLC, formally known as the Sloan Consortium or Sloan-C), WCET, Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT), Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC), the Learning Resources Network (LERN) and the United States Distance Education Association (USDLA). She not only remains a Peer Mentor to colleagues, but also continues to serve the community as a Course Reviewer for Quality Matters and Anthology's Exemplary Course Program to which she has been recognized for her commitment to excellence in online education since 2007.
