"FATIMA" Jacinta, Francisco & Lucia
There are many books and articles written about FATIMA, with movies and T.V. tapes, presenting the beautiful TRUE story of the happenings of Fatima, Portugal-- However, not everyone knows the real story of these fantastic events, this almost unbelievable true story of the happenings of Mother Mary, appearing to three shepherd children, at the exact same time, when Communism was inaugurated in Russia in 1917, --- Beginning May 13th.
Many people have heard about and perhaps seen the excellent film presentation on FATIMA; particularly the Warner Brothers Film: "The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima," released in 1952. It had a tremendous circulation and acceptance. Also, Ricardo Montalban of T.V. fame, did a fantastic, excellent job in a one-hour T.V. presentation on this remarkable event.
May I then summarize briefly the high points of these incredible happenings. But first let me tell you this incident:--
There was this 'gentleman' of hate, waiting for his victim to come and kill him. He switched on the television set--and lo and behold there was the Fatima Warner Bros. film, an hour and three quarters long. He watched and waited. At the end of it his victim arrived.
"I just couldn't do it," he admitted later. "In fact," he said, "I called up the close-by rectory and asked the padre: 'Father, tell me, this story about Fatima, is it just a make-believe T.V. tale, or is it really true?'"
"The padre says: 'Sure it's true.'"--
The Fatima children to whom Our Lady appeared were only 7--9--10 years of age. Lucia, the 10-year-old got a good slap in the face, when little Jacinta, the youngest little girl spilled the beans, telling Lucia's mother that they had seen Mary at the Cova. The mother blamed Lucia for fabricating this 'fairy-tale.'
It was not until the great Miracle happened on October 13, 1917 that the poor woman and the town's people finally believed the children. They had to suffer much ridicule from most of their neighbors--with some exceptions. Certain women of Faith believed the children immediately. The daddy of Jacinta said: "My little girl--7 years old--will not lie to her father!" He was one of the few who believed at once. Our Blessed Mother spoke to the children--however, really speaking to all of us:--
1) "In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph, Russia will be converted and a period of Peace will be granted to the World." What a wonderful promise! Looking at the NEWS today--this may be the real beginning of Russia's conversion AND the beginning of real PEACE in this World of ours?!---
2) "If my requests are not granted another more terrible War will come in the pontificate of the next Holy Father." (the Second World War). "Entire nations will be destroyed." "The good will be martyred." "The Holy Father will have much to suffer." (Pope John Paul II was shot 5 times on May 13, 1981; exactly one year later, he went to Fatima, to thank Heaven that he was not killed.)
"And Russia will spread her errors throughout the World." What a prophesy of 84 years ago! Look what happened in these many years - - -!
Mary also foretold that on October 13, 1917 a great Miracle would happen, "So that all will believe," as Our Lady put it.
Nearly 100,000 people were gathered together at the cova at Fatima, waiting in the pouring rain till noon, when Mary foretold of the miraculous happenings. Everybody was soaked to the skin. There were many skeptics on hand from the capital city, Lisbon, laughing at the large crowd:--"nothing is going to happen"--.
At 12 o'clock noon--World time--it all started, to the amazement of one and all. Finally it stopped raining. Lucia cried out: "Everybody--look at the sun!"
Believe it or not:--the sun started to spin in the sky, all colors of the rainbow covered the countryside--but all at once--all the people saw the same thing, after about 9 minutes of this phenomenon, the sun loosed itself from the sky and came down, seemingly upon the earth.
You can imagine how the people felt--they thought it was the end of the world, they flopped on their knees, asking God's forgiveness. It seemed in the last moment, the sun stopped and returned to its usual position. You can picture the relief and joy of the multitude. Of course, as the crowd fell on their knees into the mud and puddles of water (it had been raining from the night before) they all realized they were perfectly dry AND clean from the mud! Yes, believe it or not. - - -
A teen-ager threw away his crutches and yelled out: "Mother, I can walk again--it's a miracle!"
A woman screamed out to her husband: "My dear, I can see you again, I am cured."
Yes, many cures were granted--but not all were cured, as Mary foretold it. (Evidently in certain cases a sudden cure would not be expedient for a person's spiritual and eternal welfare.) Consider the other important Messages Our Lady gave to the World, as she spoke to the Fatima children at different times:
1) "Men must stop offending Almighty God Who is already so deeply offended."
2) "I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives."
3) "To obtain Peace in the World you must pray--pray the Rosary every day!"
4) "Pray and make sacrifices for sinners, for many souls go to Hell, because they have no one to pray and make sacrifices for them."
5) "Certain fashions and styles will be introduced, that will offend Our Lord very much."
6) "More souls go to Hell, because of sins against purity and chastity, than for any other reason."
7) "War is a punishment for sins."
8) "The Holy Father will consecrate Russia and the World to My Immaculate Heart."
9) "Mary showed a vision of Hell to the children."
10) "Our Lady foretold that all three children will go to Heaven."
(Francisco and Jacinta were Beatified on May 13, 2000, the 83rd anniversity of the first apparition at Fatima, by His Holiness, John Paul II. Sister Lucia is still alive and in a convent in Portugal.)

From May 13 to October 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three children of Fatima, Portugal (Lucia Santos, Blesseds Francisco and Jacinta Marto). Our Lady asked that prayers and sufferings be offered in reparation for sin, for the conversion of sinners, and for world peace. She urged that the rosary be recited with devotion and that the First Five Saturdays devotion be established to make reparation for the offenses committed against her Immaculate Heart. She gave the children some secrets, which were revealed years later. Here is the full text of the Secret of Fatima including the Third Secret that was revealed by Pope John Paul II in the year 2000.
"You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.
"If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI.
"When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father.
"To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.
"If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated.
"In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.
"In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved; etc."
Here is the Third part of the Secret of Fatima, revealed by Pope John Paul II during the year 2000. – Ed.
(Sister Lucia writes): At the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: "Penance, Penance, Penance!" And we saw in an immense light that is God, "something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it," a bishop dressed in White, "we had the impression that it was the Holy Father" and other bishops, priests, men and women religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other bishops, priests, men and women religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.
Sister Lucia was quoted in 1999 saying we are in the 3rd day of the Fatima Message. It seems to me that there is a lot of sufferings for the world to come in the remaining days before the "Era of Peace" arrives. I for one, will try to live the Fatima Message of reparation, especially the First Saturday devotion. How about you?
At Fatima an angel of God appeared to three shephard children, with chalice and host. As the Angel left the chalice and host suspended in air he bowed down low and recited the following prayers in reparation to the Most Blessed Sacrament.

I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference by which He is offended. And by the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.
