League Eligibility & General Overview

The Davis Memorial Basketball League is a “TOWN LEAGUE”. In order to participate in our league, players must live in the town that they are playing for. This will be strictly enforced! Players that are found not to be residents of the town they are representing will be immediately removed from the town’s roster and not be allowed to play. A.A.U. teams are NOT allowed to enter.

In order to be eligible to be admitted into our league, the team you enter

MUST NOT BE AN AAU, ALL STAR OR SELECT TEAM.

We are a town league. We are NOT looking for All Star teams that will run thru the League. Additionally, if a town is entering multiple teams from the same grade levels, the teams entered MUST BE SEPARATED INTO EQUALLY BALANCED TEAMS. STACKING OF TEAMS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED OR ACCEPTED. This will be strictly enforced.

For example, if you are entering two 7/8 grade boys teams, you will not be allowed to have a weak 7th grade team and then a stronger 8th grade team. these two teams MUST BE EQUALLY BALANCED into two 7/8 grade boys teams. If this is not agreeable to you, please do not enter our league. We want all teams have an equal chance of winning.

The “Regular Season” consists of ten games. All players MUST play in all ‘REGULAR SEASON” games. We do NOT maintain regular season standings, therefore, wins and losses do not count towards making the playoffs. ALL teams make the playoffs. Playoffs are double-elimination format. During the playoffs, teams play to win.

The league does not provide insurance of any type for players, coaches, spectators or the league. It is the responsibility of each town to provide liability insurance. When entering into the league, a liability insurance form must be given to me. This form will state that your town is responsible for any injury or harm to any of your players and/or coaches participating in the league. Any town that is not in agreement with this policy should not enter the league.

All coaches must have ice packs and first aid kits at every game. All teams are responsible for court cleanup after their game. Uniforms must be worn with “LEGAL numbers on FRONT AND BACK.

All coaching must be done from their bench area by a maximum of three rostered coaches. Regular season rosters must be reduced to a maximum of fifteen players for the playoffs.
