Some thought was required on making the turret ring.

The Turret requires a smooth, strong, lightweight surface to rotate on.

Ended up scrounging some 3/4 ply and laying out a full scale circle in a CAD program. Printed it on 20 or so sheets of paper (paper was reused from all those annoying unwanted faxes) and taped them together to make the ring template. Then using the scrap pieces to create a full circle two layers thick just to make sure the turret has a strong level surface to rotate on.

Did I mention strong level surface?

Found some 9 inch wheels (the white ones) and even though they are a little bit bigger than the 8 5/16 the proper scale calls for, They look better than the 8 inches.
