Gig Guide Tunes/Repertoire Players CD's Listen
Dan Harvey sings the west coast cool Jazz that was etched by the likes of Chet Baker, Chet being Dan's singing influence in his early days studying Jazz Voice.
The early performances and recordings of the Daniel Harvey Quintet 1998 - 2000, were a tribute to Chet Baker's arrangements, vocal tonal qualities, smooth sounds and melodic interpretations.
Todays performances take on influences from the likes of Kurt Elling, Mark Murphy, Mel Torme, Harry Connick Jr., Kevin Mahogany, Eddie Jefferson, Vince Jones, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Lou Rawls.
As a seasoned drummer, Dan sings with exceptional time and groove. This strength -- like Mel Torme (drummer and singer) -- provides listeners with vocalising that has a driving swinging energy, nailing the time to the board for all to hear.
The Daniel Harvey Quintet started in Adelaide, South Australia in 1997 with the original line up of Adelaide's favourite jazz musicians -- Ben Riley on Drums, Tim Bowen on Bass, Dave McEvoy on Piano and Nick Molder on Trombone.

The Dan Harvey Quintet reborn in Melbourne
In 2000 Dan moved to Melbourne Australia and re-gouped with old Adelaide acquaintances,
Judd Neimann (Guitar) and Dave Palmer (Trombone). With influences from the Melbourne jazz Sean and the exposure to the efforts of Kurt Elling (USA) Daniel upped the pressure with convincing transcriptions and arrangements taking the performances of the quintet to new heights.
Now a married and mature family man with twin boys by his side,
Dan delivers powerful vocal performances etched from years of experience on and off the stage.
Talented across many genres, his natural talents truly unfold in the world of Jazz singing and vocalisation
