Lara's 86 Rebel 250 Custom

The story begins with my wife kinda wanting a bike, I didn't just want to buy her a new one to see if she would enjoy it or not. Instead I decided to find her a cheap bike.

Well this rebel was given to me, because it was in such a bad state that the owner was going to throw it in the trash. He asked if I could use the parts.

Work was slow and the more I looked at this pile , the more potential I saw in the machine.

I decided to tear the motor down completely, and take a look inside ( after all a gasket set is $ 50 )

The motor was new inside , valves, pistons, crank ,tranny , everthing checked out. I bead blasted the bear cases and painted them. Just because it looked so bad.

My friend Richard saw the neatly painted motor and said I shouldn't put that clean motor into that nasty frame, and that's where it started.

I then wanted to go for it on the bike and make it a really neat custom Rebel.

We painted the chassis, I lowered the rear an inch, shortened the front shocks, painted the swingarm . Stripped the wheels and painted them flat black. Along the way reconditioning all the parts . Made a K&N adapter for the carb, Jetted it, Put new slash cut Jardine pipes on ( The most expensive part of the bike) Welded the tail light holes in the rear fender and smoothed the fender out. Painted the body metalic silver. Made my own Tail light . New tires, cut the seat down and covered it.

Finished the bike up, and touched up little things here and there.

The first test ride revealed a weak clutch and a faulty starter clutch. With a new clutch, and some rigging on the starter clutch the bike is running and is an absolute blast .

All our customers cannot believe how cool this little bike is. Most who don't know what it is, think it's a miniature Harley ( To me that's not really a compliment to me) . So far I have been offered $2000 allready, but Lara will kill me.

Thats the story of Lara's Rebel.

There are some little touches I'm planning, but business is picking up and Lara wants her bike. So for know it's complete.
