This is a cherry roll-top desk that I designed and built for my father. It's made out of quarter-sawn and flat cherry on the exterior and I used maple for the internal components and drawer side. The maple drawer side accent the dovetailed joints that hold the drawer fronts in place. All of the drawers and the set of center cabinet doors are book-matched to give a pleasing appearance. The roll-top is made out of 1/2" half-round cherry glued to a sheet of canvas to make the tambour. All of the hardware is made of solid brass.
