Our group has on occasion, awarded the Stephen Foster Award to a group or musician keeping alive mid-nineteenth century music in its purest state, with the instruments, lyrics, and style.

In 2004, the 2nd South Carolina String Band was awarded this accolade at Gordon College, and performed for a memorable evening of Civil War music.
